This post is extremely special to a little guy who a few post earlier missed a shot on his first deer.
Jake and Randy get set in about 6:15am and it is the perfect morning.
Clear Skies
40 degrees
Slight Wind
The first action of the morning came about 7:30am when 5 does and a nice 9pt (we have yet to capture on camera) come to have a snack of corn. Randy said he could have dropped the 9 several times, but was determined to get Jake on the trigger. After several attempts, the deer mosey away unknown to the potential 60lb life threat in the little camo blind.
At 8:45am business was picking up once again. One lone doe came back for another mouthful of corn, but Jake was ready...
Jake and his first doe....BIG DOE I might add!!! |
I am proud to say Jake Atchley killed his first ever whitetail deer on the Johnson Meadow on Nov 24th 2012.
My dad was in charge of this hay meadow for over 40 years and when he died, he requested that the land owners let me take his place. I am blessed to have this resource at my disposal. This is the only deer killed on this land in over 50 years that I know of. I'm sure there have been some poachers crossing and killing no telling what, but this deer was done the right way.
Good Job Jake and Randy!!!
Randy and Lynlee arrived at 3:45pm for the evening hunt, but no deer were viewed. The did witness a gorgeous bobcat stroll by. Keep it up Lyn, you will be on the board soon!!!
Until Next time...
